Transparent, Uncompromised Care

At The Balanced Therapy, we believe your mental health care should be determined solely by your clinical needs, not by the limitations of an insurance company. By operating as a private-pay practice, we are able to provide a higher standard of care, absolute confidentiality, and highly personalized treatment plans that focus 100% on your healing journey.

The Benefits of Private-Pay Therapy

Choosing a private-pay (out-of-network) practice offers several significant advantages for your mental health care:

  • Absolute Privacy: When you use insurance, your provider must share your mental health records and diagnosis with the insurance company. Private pay ensures your health information remains strictly between you and your therapist.

  • No Mandatory Diagnoses: Insurance companies require a formal psychiatric diagnosis to approve coverage. Private pay allows you to seek therapy for relationship issues, personal growth, or life transitions without needing a permanent medical label.

  • Freedom of Treatment: Insurance companies often dictate the length, frequency, and type of therapy you receive. Our model gives us the freedom to use the most effective, evidence-based modalities for as long as you actually need them.

Out-of-Network Benefits and Superbills

While we do not bill insurance directly, your health insurance plan may offer out-of-network benefits that reimburse a portion of your therapy costs.

Upon request, we are happy to provide you with a detailed monthly receipt called a "Superbill." You can submit this document directly to your insurance provider to request out-of-network reimbursement. We recommend calling your insurance company prior to your first session to ask about your specific out-of-network mental health coverage.

Payment and Cancellation Policy

We require a credit card on file to hold your appointment time. Payment is collected at the time of service via our secure, HIPAA-compliant client portal. We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards.

Because your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you, we require a 24-hour notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice will be subject to the full session fee.

Good Faith Estimate

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. You will receive this estimate prior to your first session. For more detailed information, please review our full Good Faith Estimate policy.
